Do you need to ground yourself?
Thank you for taking the time to read my first ever blog post, I spent a lot of time pondering over the topic and it seemed apt due to being ‘Grounded Goddess’ to talk to you about Grounding. Many people do not know what grounding is and the impact that being grounded can have on your well-being and daily life.
What is Grounding?
Grounding is a spiritual term which refers to centring your soul within your body, and in turn connecting with Mother Earth.
When these connections are strong you will feel safer and more secure and it will enable you to feel more connected with the earth. Ensuring you are grounded can lead to many benefits; a reduction in stress and anxiety, better sleep, pain reduction as well as a sharper, clearer and more focused mind.When we are grounded we are less likely to be influenced by negative forces.
If you experience the following feelings, you may well have become ungrounded;
I always feel amazing when I visit the beach, its incredible what an affect it can have on your personal state of mind, this is because the sand, sea, grass and soil are all charged with the earths energy. As a society, in this modern world we have become vey detached from this energy, there is no wonder that many of us are frequently ungrounded. We believe that we are making life easier for ourselves by having houses, beds, shoes, cars but this all removes us further from nature and its nourishing energies.
Therefore, it is so important to take the time out to look after yourself and ensure that you are grounded.
Below I will share various tips and techniques to help you (and don’t worry they are super easy! And will have a massive impact on your state of mind and well-being) What are you waiting for???
7 Tips to help you feel more Grounded.
Nature.
The easiest way is to spend time outdoors, go for a short walk, camping, play an outdoor sport or do some gardening. If you don’t have time for this the simplest way is to go outside, stand on the grass – barefoot preferably and say to yourself ‘I am grounding and connecting myself to the Spirit of Earth now’
Visualisation.
Sit or stand under a large tree, visualise your energy merging with its roots. Imagine roots coming from the soles of your feet, connecting with the trees roots and travelling deep into Mother Earth.
Eating.
This can also be very grounding – consuming root vegetables such as parsnips, potatoes and heavier foods such as whole-wheat pasta and bread, and warming spices such as ginger, garlic and cinnamon – There is a reason it’s called comfort food!
Avoid Substances.
Drugs and Alcohol can be very ungrounding so avoid where possible, if you are wanting to partake in a tipple it is best to do so with a large meal.
Crystals.
Various crystals can be used to help with grounding one of my personal favourites is Black Tourmaline, but your local crystal shop can help advise you further. Hold the crystal in your hand, imagine negative energy leaving you and entering the crystal. Remember as the crystal is absorbing all your negative energies it is important to regularly cleanse your stones – this can be done in a variety of ways such as placing in direct moonlight, or in soil or by simply washing them through flowing water.
Meditation.
A simple breath meditation will suffice, ideally sat on the floor so you are more in touch with the earth. Meditation will help to bring your awareness to the now, rather than focusing on the past or the future.
Getting physical.
This can be something as simple as stretching, gentle such as yoga or a hardcore workout the choice is yours. Moving your body will help to remove toxic energy from your aura and allows energy to circulate your body more freely.
